I started my teaching career at Wellsville Elementary School in the 2014-2015 school year in 5th grade. I am extremely excited to continue teaching 5th grade and looking forward to another awesome year.
I grew up in an educators home. My mother retired from 39 years of teaching Special Education in the Burlington, Iowa school district. In college I started driving a school bus and retired from driving to continue my education at Ottawa University and earn my K-6 Elementary Teaching License.
My wonderful wife Christina and I were married in 2004. She teaches preschool at Little Treasures Learning Center in Olathe, KS. We have two beautiful daughters, Abigail born in 2006 and Maisie born in 2009. Both attend Heritage Elementary School in Olathe, KS. Our wonderful family also includes an energetic 3 year old Bichon dog named Molly.
I love to create using my imagination whether it is working with wood, creating things to help with learning in my classroom or just enjoying an art project. I also enjoy being outdoors. Hiking, camping, hunting and fishing are a few outdoor activities I enjoy, especially when I get to do them with my family and friends. I love a good fiction novel and still till this day enjoy watching cartoons or reading a good comic book. I grew up (or haven't grown up if you ask my wife) enjoying Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who or anything Sci Fi. I have a great appreciation for our American history and enjoy reading and continually learning new things about our great nation. I believe that learning to love reading will create a lifelong learner.
