Course Description: The Geometry course begins with developing the tools of geometry, including transformations, proof, and constructions. These tools are used throughout the course as students formalize geometric concepts studied in earlier courses and extend those ideas to new concepts presented in the high school standards. There is a focus on modeling, problem solving, and proof throughout the course. Throughout this Geometry course, students should continue to develop proficiency with the Common Core's eight Standards for Mathematical Practice:
1. Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
2. Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
3. Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
4. Model with mathematics.
5. Use appropriate tools strategically.
6. Attend to precision.
7. Look for and make use of structure.
8. Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
We will follow the rules stated in the school handbook.
You must be respectful. This means not being distracting or talking when someone else is talking. You also must come prepared to learn every day.
Absolutely NO CELL PHONES in the classroom. They must be turned off and out of site. Failure to do so will result in discipline points and phone taken to the office.
If you leave to use the restroom or get a drink of water, you must leave your phone on my desk.
You are allowed 5 passes per quarter. If you have a pass from another teacher or the office, that will not count as a pass. Each resulting time you leave the room will result in a 30 minute detention.

Scientific calculator, not your phone (TI-84 Plus would be helpful but not required)
Grading: Your grade will be divided up into three categories: Tests/Quizzes, Homework, and Participation.
Semester Grade (No more quarter grades):
Homework/In-class Work: 20%
Final: 15% of semester grade
Tests: If you miss a test day, you will be given the amount of days that you were gone to make up the test. (Ex: Sally missed 2 days of school. She will have 2 school days once she is back to make it up.)
Full Credit: Completed and turned in the day it’s due
If absent, you have the amount of days that you missed to complete the assignment.
50% credit given after the due date. It is up to the discretion of the teacher as to how long the window will be open for late work.
Extra Help: If you are struggling or just need help with a couple problems on a homework assignment, don’t hesitate to ask. I will be available before and after school each day. In the spring, I will not be available after school due to baseball.
