The regular meeting of the Board of Education was held on Monday, April 23th, 2018, at 6:30 PM in the board meeting room. President Beth Watson called the meeting to order. Other board members present Shane Pruitt, Kevin Jones, Amanda Donovan, Dawn Whalen, Jeremi Thompson, and Todd Wilmarth. Jerry Henn, Supt., Randy Fox, MS Prin., Jason Townsend, ES Prin.,Sherry Bousman, Board Clerk.

2.ADOPT AGENDA Dawn Whalen moved, Todd Wilmarth seconded and motion carried 7-0 to adopt the agenda and make 10. Executive Session and 11. Adjournment

3. PUBLIC COMMENT N.A.

4. STUDENT PRESENTATION FBLA students presented their state presentations to the Board. Beth Watson moved, Kevin Jones seconded to give $3,000 to FBLA for National Competition. Beth Watson moved, Kevin Jones seconded to amend to $4,200.

5.APPROVE CONSENT AGENDA Dawn Whalen moved, Jeremy Thompson seconded and motion carried 7-0 to approve the meeting minutes pulling 5.b. Financials, 5.c. Donations, and 5.d. Staff Reports

5.B. MONTHLY BILLS AND FINANCIALS Kevin Jones moved, Dawn Whalen seconded and motion carried 5-2 to approve monthly bills and financials. Yay’s – Pruitt, Jones, Donovan, Watson, Whalen. Nay – Thompson, Wilmarth

5.C. DONATIONS & STAFF REPORTS Kevin Jones moved, Dawn Whalen seconded and motion carried 7-0 to approve donations and staff reports.

Donations: Wellsville Chamber to FBLA, $1000 Lytle Land Management to FBLA, $1600 Jarot and Tonya Pearson to FBLA, $650 Ottawa Optimist Club to WES activity, $200 In Memory of Mike McAuley, $100 to Baseball Activities WJRC to Food Service, $1,000 pay off debt. (Letter stating where the money came from is in our office.)

7.A. MOWER PURCHASE Amanda Donovan moved, Dawn Whalen seconded and motion carried 4-3 to approve the purchase of a Grasshopper Lawnmower from McConnell Machinery Co. in the amount of $13,229. Yay’s – Jones, Donovan, Watson, Whalen. Nays – Pruitt, Thompson, Wilmarth

7.B. BIDS FOR TECHNOLOGHY Kevin Jones moved, Beth Watson seconded and motion carried 4-3 to accept the bids for Micro Center 10 Laptops and 12 Desktops $23,977.78 and SHI 225 Chromebooks and 8 Chromebook Carts $61,485.00. Yay’s – Jones, Donovan, Watson, Whalen. Nays – Pruitt, Thompson, Wilmarth.

7.C. SUMMER CAMPS Dawn Whalen moved, Jeremi Thompson seconded and motion carried to approve the following camps HS/MS volleyball, K-8 basketball, band lessons, and HS/MS football.

7.D. KASB DUES Dawn Whalen moved, Amanda Donovan seconded and motion carried 6-1 to be a member of KASB in the amount of $8,618.08. Yay’s – Pruitt, Donovan, Watson, Whalen, Thompson, Wilmarth. Nays – Jones

Dawn Whalen moved, Jeremi Thompson seconded and motion carried 7-0 to adopt the Adoption Agreement and Consultant Service Contract in the amount of $2,100.

7.E. EXTENDED SCHOOL YEAR No action taken.

8. EXECUTIVE SESSION

8.B. PERSONNEL Dawn Whalen moved, Kevin Jones seconded and motion carried 7-0 to go into executive session to discuss employee’s resignation and hiring pursuant to nonelected personnel exception under KOMA, and that we return to open session in this room at 9:55pm. Mr. Henn will be in attendance.

9. PERSONNEL

9.A. RESIGNATIONS Dawn Whalen moved, Kevin Jones seconded and motion carried 7-0 to accept the resignations from teachers Elise Luce ES Music and Tina Redlinger HS Science effective May 17th, 2018.

Dawn Whalen moved, Kevin Jones seconded and motion carried 7-0 to accept the resignations from Ashli Votaw and Jodi Hylton MS STUCO.

9.B. CONTRACTS TO OFFER

9.B.1. SUMMER MAINTENANCE STAFF Dawn Whalen moved, Jeremi Thompson seconded and motion carried 7-0 to accept the summer maintenance staff recommendations as presented.

9.B.2. CERTIFIED STAFF Dawn Whalen moved, Shane Pruitt seconded and motion carried 7-0 to renew the certified staff list as presented.

Amanda Donovan moved, Kevin Jones seconded and motion carried 7-0 to offer a contract to Brian Batchelder for Science Teacher 18-19 year.

10. EXECUTIVE SESSION Dawn Whalen moved, Kevin Jones seconded and motion carried 7-0 to go into executive session to discuss a nonelected personnel complaint exception under KOMA, and that we return to open session in this room at 10:30pm. Mr. Henn will be in attendance.

Shane Pruitt moved, Jeremi Thompson seconded and motion carried 7-0 to go into executive session to discuss a nonelected personnel complaint exception under KOMA, and that we return to open session in this room at 10:36pm. Mr. Henn will be in attendance.

Jeremi Thompson moved, Shane Pruitt seconded and motion carried 7-0 to go into executive session to discuss a nonelected personnel complaint exception under KOMA, and that we return to open session in this room at 10:41pm. Mr. Henn will be in attendance.
